Wiatr wieje z prędkością 230 km/h. Huragan jest ok 100 km od brzegów Florydy i przemieszcza się z prędkością ok 20 km/h. Uderzy w ląd w okolicach Panama City Beach.
Największe zagrożenie spowodowane jest jednak nie przez wiatr, a falą sztormową. Może ona osiągnąć nawet kilka metrów wysokości. Już teraz część domów jest zalana do połowy. Trwa ewakuacja mieszkańców z zagrożonych terenów.
